Manny Sahota – Managing Partner
Manny is the managing partner and founder of RMY Clements. Manny is a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Advisor with over 20 years of experience in practice. Before founding RMY Clements, Manny was head tax partner at local firm Clement Keys LLP based in Edgbaston.
Manny specialises in dealing with corporate tax, personal tax, tax investigations and all aspects of tax planning. In particular Manny has dealt with a number of high profile code of practice 8 and 9 cases, along with criminal taxes unit cases.
When he is not dealing with all things tax Manny is a West Bromwich Albion season ticket holder and likes to attend as many matches as possible. Manny enjoys spending time with his kids and still enjoys playing some friendly evening 5 or 7 a side football matches when he gets chance.
Amardeep Sidhu – Manager
Amar is a manager in our business advisory department and is also responsible for practice management for RMY. Amar graduated from the University of Birmingham with a degree in Accounting and Finance before training and qualifying in 2013 with local firm Clement Keys. In January 2016 Amar joined RMY Clements.
Throughout his professional career, Amar has always specialised in small owner managed businesses dealing with every aspect of accounting requirements for all small business from sole traders through to groups of companies. Amar offers a very hands on approach and prides himself on getting to know your business well so he can give you the most relevant advice for your business.
In his own time Amar enjoys watching and playing football being a fanatic Manchester United fan (Long Live Sir Alex!!).
Sharon Chapman – Manager
Sharon is a manager in our business advisory department. Sharon graduated from the University of Sheffield with a degree in Law before training and qualifying as a Chartered Accountant with local firm Clement Keys.
Upon qualification in 2012, Sharon committed to specialise in small owner managed businesses dealing with everything from sole traders through to groups of companies and assisting with all aspects of those businesses ranging from statutory compliance and tax work to VAT returns, book keeping, monthly/quarterly management accounts or more complicated group restructures and planning projects.
Sharon joined RMY Clements in April 2016 and prides herself in offering a friendly, professional and supportive approach to her clients and is looking forward to meeting you, building a strong working relationship and helping to develop your business.
When Sharon is not working she enjoys spending time with her dog, including lots of countryside walks, and has recently developed a passion for running and exercising!
Laura Cunningham - Audit Manager
Laura is responsible for managing our portfolio of audit clients and managing audit teams whilst out on site. Laura trained with local firm Clement Keys, obtaining her AAT qualification, and began her ACA qualification before joining RMY Clements in March 2016 and qualifying as a Chartered Accountant.
Laura has predominately worked in audit throughout her career, focusing on corporate audits but has also completed charity audits and Solicitors Accounts Rule audits (SARS). She has undertaken secondments in the business advisory department completing small company accounts, the service charge department, and the tax department dealing with both personal and corporate tax. Laura therefore has extensive knowledge and experience in every aspect of a company’s affairs and this allows her to offer a complete service to a range of types of clients. At RMY, Laura’s main focus is on corporate audit and working closely with clients, getting to know each business well so that she can add value to the service they are receiving from our firm. In addition Laura is responsible for completing some specialist tasks such as FCA assurance engagements.
Laura was a member of the BCASS committee where she helped to organise events for accounting students across the area. In her spare time Laura is a season ticket holder at Birmingham City FC and enjoys socialising with friends and volunteering for the blind.
Liz Hurley – Payroll Administrator
Liz is our payroll administrator and joined RMY in November 2017. Liz has worked in various accountancy practices for over 20 years, dealing with a variety of aspects in payroll and book keeping. In relation to payroll this has involved looking after a range of clients from single employee payrolls on an annual basis to larger companies with thousands of employees on a fortnightly basis. As well as running the payroll, Liz ensures that clients records are up to date, that they are compliant with HMRC rules and regulations, and that they receive the necessary information on payments and deadlines. Liz also assists with any HMRC queries, pension auto-enrolment, CIS deductions and payments, and completion of P11d’s. Liz can therefore easily assist with any aspect of a company’s payroll requirements.
In her own time Liz enjoys going on holiday and has developed a love of golf – although this is definitely a ‘work in progress’.
Steve Simmonds - VAT Specialist
Steve was previously a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation and is our VAT consultant at RMY.
Steve previously worked at Clement keys between and 2001 and 2014 where he was the Director of Indirect Tax Services, providing assistance on VAT and other indirect taxes to a broad spectrum of client business including charities, educational charities, property development companies in the UK and internationally, professionals and medical practices, retailers and even farmers and race horse owners. Steve was exposed to a wide range of subject areas including imports and exports, time and place of supply, registration and deregistration and property acquisitions and sales. Between 2006 and 2009 Steve wrote and presented a bi-annual one day seminar for Hawksmere Ltd and on a yearly basis wrote and presented the annual VAT update seminar for the local Association of Accounting Technicians branch. In 2014 Steve semi-retired and provided consultancy services to a number of accountancy practices before taking a more key consultancy role with RMY.
Prior to working for Clement Keys Steve worked as a VAT consultant for a number of accountancy related companies and also worked for HM Customs & Excise (now HM Revenue & Customs) in a VAT compliance role.
In his own time Steve enjoys photography, walking, travelling and real ales.
Shona Cutler – Consultant
Shona is a Chartered Accountant and sits on both the main and technical committee of the Birmingham branch of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP). Shona has over 30 years of experience advising private clients on tax matters in Birmingham City Centre. Before joining RMY Clements Shona was the Partner responsible for Personal Tax, Trusts and Estates together with Manny at Clement Keys in Edgbaston.
Shona specialises in private client work, dealing with all issues of Personal Tax and Tax planning and advice for both individuals and businesses. With Shona’s background with STEP she specialises in advising on Trusts and Estates, assists clients with Inheritance Tax planning and advice on drafting Tax efficient Wills.
In her own time Shona enjoys riding her horse, running and cycling, albeit very slowly. After the January Tax Return season loves to wind down by Skiing down mountains.
